Water demand is increasing everywhere and because of increased requirements for 8, domestic usage, and lifestyle changes, and so on. Water loss in water distribution system is an important issue in India. Studies indicate that up to 50% to 60% of treated and pumped water is lost during transit from water treatment plant (WTP) to consumer end. High levels of Non-Revenue Water (NRW) reflect huge volumes of water loss through physical and apparent loss components, not being invoiced to customers. It seriously affects the financial viability of Non-Revenue water utilities through lost revenues and increased operational costs. The overall objective of a distributions system of Non-Revenue water is to deliver wholesome water to consumers at adequate residual pressure in sufficient quantity and achieve continuity and maximum coverage by reducing losses. To attain this objective, the organization has to evolve operating procedures to ensure that the system can be operated satisfactorily, function efficiently & continuously, and as far as possible at lowest cost.
